Grounding

Helps: when a study or practice method may not exercise what the real task demands: practice transfers best when it calls for the same kind of response as the target, and transfer to a different skill is rare; the four-question audit itself is untested craft

Backfires: when "resemble the target" is read as copying its surface conditions: varying practice conditions often improves retention, and context effects fade when practice does not rely on the surroundings
